Description
Your ride kicks off heading southeast through the wide-open Panguitch Valley, surrounded by not one, but three rugged mountain ranges and soaring high plateaus. As the trail winds closer to the Bryce Canyon Plateau, the landscape begins to transform. Suddenly, you’re riding right into the narrow, jaw-dropping red rocks of Casto Canyon – the perfect gateway to adventure!
From here, the trail climbs to 8,200 feet. Halfway up, you’ll duck into the hidden beauty of Barney Cove Slot Canyon before pushing on to the legendary Peterson Point Ridge. This scenic ridgeline earns its “Panoramic” name with nonstop views of mountains and canyons in every direction.
Follow the ridge for 2 ¾ miles to the end of the trail at Peterson Point, where picnic tables and a short walk reward you with an unbeatable 360° view that will leave you speechless. Want to relax in the shade instead? Just backtrack a bit to one of the many cool, scenic overlooks you passed on the way up.
The ride back is just as thrilling as the way up! You’ll descend through the Bryce Canyon Red Rock Claron Formation – arches, windows, and hoodoos around every corner make the return trip its own wild adventure.
